The past two days have been extremely busy and extremely productive. I was feeling kind of proud of myself. The kitchen counters were free of foodparticles, dirty dishes and day-old coffee cups. The laundry was at that perfect 3-load stage where you know you can knock it off in one day if you try. My desk was on day 5 of having nothing on it but the essentials. The mail that didn't require some kind of action like writing a check was shredded upon receipt (until my shredder died...but that's OK...when I'm all organized I can handle the occasional glitch.) My kids and I were all up-to-date on contact lenses. I spent three hours with my eyes glued to the computer screen working on a budget that my husband had requested. I even made this (Uncle Roger's Mac & Cheese) for dinner:
And I didn't make it out of this:
I made it with this kind of cheese (don't you LOVE my cheese grater?):
Not THIS kind of cheese:
I know it's a thankless job. But I thought that perhaps at least an "Atta girl!" was in order. But no...in my one brief phone call with my husband, he managed to find one thing about the last two days that ever-so-slightly tarnished my perfect Mom image (hanging out with my friends at the Cantina for an hour and a half last night) and left me feeling like a teenager honor student who just got her first B.
But I knew that if I posted this here, my blog friends would give me the "Atta girl!" that I need. I love you for that!
Di
P.S. My son just walked in the kitchen and said, "We're having the GOOD mac and cheese? Woo hoo!!!" I can always count on him to lift me up!

Hey, you get an A++. Clean counters and cooked food are nothing to sniff at. We've been living on frozen pizzas and chips over here for the past 2 weeks, but I write my last final tomorrow and then I am CLEANING THE HELL OUT OF THIS PLACE! AND COOKING A MEAL! WITH PRODUCE!
I am so jealous of your cheese grater and does it grate all cheese or only the hard cheeses? And your mac and cheese looks delicious and how do I make it? Oh, I am so hungry for something without my daily dose of trans fats and sodium.
