Thirteen Things about Di 13 THINGS THAT PROVE THAT I AM OLD 2. The 80's did have some great music and I graduated high school in 1980 and was in college when MTV premiered. 3. I had to have my daughter read the IMEI numbers to the cell phone people because they were too small for me to see no matter how much I squinted, moved it closer, moved it farther away, etc. 4. I mentioned my blood pressure reading at dinner last week. 5. When my parents were my age, they were empty-nesters...and they sure seemed old to me (although they seem much younger the older I get). 6. The guys playing college football now were born when I already had a career that didn't involve serving drinks and going to after-hours clubs. 7. The actresses who are lamenting the lack of quality roles for mature actresses are younger than I am. 8. I drink better and more expensive wine. My college hallmates from Penthouse in Dean Eaton dorm will remember our "Orphan Party" during Parents' Weekend with the gallong jug of Almaden Mountain Chablis that we thought was just the height of class! 9. It's the 25th anniversary of Luke & Laura's wedding and I was watching it in my college dorm!!!! 10. My flower girl from my wedding is about to graduate from UCF. 11. I can somewhat intelligently discuss real estate values and the impact of tax and insurance hikes on the future of real estate in Florida (and I'm not a realtor). 12. Any discussions of 40th birthday celebrations are in the past tense. 13. When hear the term "drug paraphernalia", I think of my little blue plastic pill holder labeled Sunday through Saturday. I vaguely remember Luke and Laura's wedding from college days, too! Although I've never been a soap fan...Your post made me smile, because I'm feeling the same way lately. All of a sudden, you notice you're a little more fragile than you were a few years ago. Things feel more tentative to me. I enjoyed reading your thoughts, most of which I relate to perfectly.

I just turned 40. I had that same realization about my parents. In fact, most of the people I went to high school are almost empty-nesters. Thanks for visiting my TT!

Great list. :) I'm still in my 30s, but I still can't believe that 80s music, which is what I listened to throughout my high school years, is now considered "oldies" music!!!
The only reference of yours that I didn't "get" was Luke & Larua's wedding.
Happy T13. :)

Old is beautiful...and mature.
:D
That's how I picture my self in a few years from now.
BTW, I love your list of blog. Really!

You don't sound that old to me. You're as old as you're feeling; sometimes 18, sometimes 80 in my case... ;-)
My TT is about sports I like to watch.

You don't seem old to me.
You're not old you're just mature.
Like good wine: You don't get older you just get mature! (That's what we say in Germany)
Happy TT from Dortmund,
Sonny

Um. Yeah. My kids make me feel old like that too. Especially with some of my music. They think 30 is old...I'll hit 30 in March. Then they'll know better!

Thanks for visiting my site History Is Elementary. I hope you visit again....
Thanks for the heads up about the Mayflower show on the History Channel. I thought it had already aired so I will be on the look out for it. I always like to watch those shows to see if they come up with anything new.

All of a sudden I feel old! I loved the 80's - especially the music. Who didn't love those flower print blazers women wore?

Wow this is the first time my robot blocker spelled a word! Well not really. It was xaxbuq but I thought it said bug, and then when I got it wrong, my new one was p6pump
I'm on a roll

it's all relative! when my mother was my age i was in college, and i am not even a parent (yet, she said hopefully).
i was on a kibbutz when luke & laura got married, and all the american volunteers could not stop talking about it. however, it was, of course, pre internet & cable tv so everyone who arrived from the usa was quizzed mercilessly :-)
happy tt
